dogs as a comfort in difficult times

Penny has been lacking one member of her human family since Saturday the 29th March - he had a traffic accident, which has caused the other humans plenty of stress and worry. (Fortunately, he's beginning to recover.)
During this week Penny's been on the job letting everyone know that life goes on - doggy family members need hugs, food and exercise. If they don't get enough exercise, they don't complain, they just set to and organise their own entertainment...

  1. Oh, Penny, I can sense that you're relating to your human family's stress!!
My Mum told me that you performed ever so well today at the K9 demonstration and got lots of claps and some laughs as you ran off to find your other Mum in the crowd.
    Well done, Penny!

  4. Jabari, your mum was correct! Penny had a great day out and it was good for us too, to get away from worrying. She wasn't so good when she broke down the gate whilst waiting not-so-patiently for her turn at the lure coursing, but we've forgiven her!
Hoping to put up some pics of that day soon. It was great.

  5. Slavenka, I've missed surfing around all my favorite blogs. I'll bet when I get to yours there will be dozens! I'm looking forward to reading them.

  6. Hi, Amber-Mae. It's my brother. He is much better now but won't be home for a few weeks, we think. I'm hoping to take Penny to visit him soon, if they let us do that at the hospital.

As I said to Slavenka, I'm looking forward to having time to catch up with my favorite blogs, soon. I'll find out what you've been up to.

  10. Hi, Noah
Yes, he's on the mend. Penny is having to be very patient about walks, though, and she is kept quite busy comforting other family members by snoozing on their beds. It's lucky she's in the family to keep our spirits up.

  12. Hi, Sharon
thanks for that. My brother is recovering well, I think. He's in a hospital near home now, so I'm planning to walk around there with Penny tomorrow or the next day. (They said to come late in the afternoon, after the day patients have left - I guess it wouldn't be a good thing to have some poor injured person trip over a small dog!)

  15. Sparky, Penny has been doing a great job of reminding us all that life can be full of fun even at a stressful time. Her person is recovering well and should be home in a week or so.

  16. Johann, the recovery is going well. Hopefully the family will be back to something like normal in a week or so.
Penny had a great day recently at a Dogs' Day Out and I'd like to show the pictures we took. I need to find time to upload them in between talking to medical specialists, police, Transport Accident Commission, insurers, physiotherapists...oh, I think I'll stop listing them and think about the fun pictures I'm going to blog about as soon as I can.
