an old dog learns to be happy

Scruffy, who visited us for the first time on 14th July, after he lost his best canine friend, came again today. His human loves to see him happy, but said to me, 'You can't teach an old dog new tricks." Well, that was an immediate challenge, and I said I could teach him to 'sit' within one minute.

Here he is after a couple of minutes. (He's the fluffy white dog.)

The lovely little even older dog is Bonnie, our regular visitor.

  1. Hi Penny - hmmm, we certainly liked all the treats in the video!! :) Our human is also a great believer in dogs 'living in the moment' so whatever we might have done yesterday will have no bearing on what we might manage to achieve today! We like to keep her on her toes though - she has to keep those treats coming! He he he! Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.

  3. Looks like three stars to me. Scruffy certainly doesn't look that old and his tail was wagging a lot.

  4. JD and Max, that is so true! Dogs are here to teach us to live in the moment. Thanks for reminding me of that important truth.

  6. You might be right, Mary. His human didn't tell me how old he is, actually.

  7. Anything will be possible like training your old dog. It's just a matter of consistency, patience and more practice. I know you're a good teacher. You can make it. By the way, nice blog =). Good luck. For some Facebook fun tied to a feel-good cause to help dogs, check out Save a Dog: http://apps.facebook.com/save-a-dog/

Thanks for the support. More power!
