First bath in the hydrobath

Peppa had a big adventure yesterday when we tried out the hydrobath for the first time in her life.

Not a great success, as the loud machine that powered the spray hose was rather scary.

Even the offer of lots of treats didn't work, because she was so nervous she couldn't eat.

But we did discover, as we suspected 😉 that under all those masses of lhasa apso fur there was a skinny puppy.

So we turned off the machine and just used a baby bath and jugs of warm water to complete the bath.

Afterwards, she had a wonderful time when we wrapped her in a towel to dry. She adores the game of disappearing and reappearing in a big comfy towel.

this dog loves his bath

In an email from PetPlace today there is a link to a delightful video of a dog relaxing in the bath. I loved it, because there's no way it's not the dog's own choice to lie that way. I've seen Penny's eyes slowly closing with pleasure as we rub her belly when she's lying on the floor and this is what I see in Casper's expression.

In this article from The Telegraph, the owners explain that Casper on this occasion just lay back when they lifted his paws to wash his belly and the wife fetched the camera and filmed it.

first bath after surgery

Last weekend, Penny had her first afternoon off-lead in the garden, a wonderful day for us all.

She enjoyed the warm sunshine and mooched around finding sticks while her humans tried to make inroads into the massive growth of weeds swallowing up our backyard since these wonderful rains began.

She enjoyed a roll in rotting wet mulch, resulting in such a ghastly smell that we had to give her the first bath since surgery.
