Having a dog makes you get out of the house. Sometimes it feels like a bother to have to go, but once you're on the way, it becomes a pleasure.
Today was one of those days when it's an absolute pleasure to even think of setting out. The sun was shining, not too hot, and the local gardens beckoned us to come and see.
After all the years of drought, I still can't get used to the lush growth all around.
It's the best year I can remember for irises.
It was quite hot, so Penny seemed happy to come back home after a short amble around the streets, to sit at the front window and watch the world go by.

What a beautiful portrait of you peeking out the front window, Penny! What a pretty painting this would make!
Love ya lots
Maggie and Mitch
oh that yellow iris is pretty. I am with you I get out so much more having a dog! They just have a habit of doing that.
Maggie and Mitch, you are right! That shot of Penny at the window was a quick snap with no preparation, but it has a lovely soft look. (Might be the dirty window, lol.)
Hound Girl, isn't it great that so many millennia ago dogs decided it would be good to make friends with humans?
Wow, those photos are beautiful. I don't think our Iris bloomed this year in the garden. It is a yellow Iris, but it isn't as nice a deep yellow color like the one in your picture. I like the picture of you in the window the best!
Lassiter Chase, it's a great shot of Penny. It's just how she looks.
Wow ,what a beautiful photos, the photo of Penny is so nice.
