toys to enhance a dog's intelligence

I've been talking to Johann's mum about her post regarding Nina Ottosson's toys for intelligent play and I've finally figured out a way to get one - a friend is going to bring me the Dog Tornado from Clean Run in the US when she comes over here for Christmas.

Fingers crossed that it gets to her before she leaves and that it's not too heavy!

In the meantime, Penny's still extending herself to solve the puzzle of the balls that disappear into a game I made out of pvc pipes in December last year. Because we're experiencing a drought here, we've had water tanks put in and there were some old pipes left over, so I've extended the pipe game. Here's Penny trying unsuccessfully to use the techniques that worked with the shorter version.I had to put it on YouTube because I couldn't get it uploaded to Blogger.

She thought we were going to help her, but we weren't, so she tried again - this time she gets it right. I love the way her tail is wagging throughout.

Penny sure seems to like your clever homemade pvc toy. Interesting video.

Yes, her wagging tail is lovely to see! I find it interesting that she tried the same techniques that she used to solve the shorter version a whole year ago. What a memory..

Good girl Penny! That toy does look a little complicated for me. I'd smash it around to get the ball out. It takes a lot of brains to figure out this one! Hehehe!

Penny really likes playing with the pipe. My sisters are more interested in ripping my bed apart...sigh.

Oh by the way Penny, could you give me your pee-mail so that I can pee-mail you our Christmas card before our Mommy leaves for a singing competition next week? Thanks!

She really is delighted! Perhaps I need a brainteasing toy for Cash. He needs something to do with his keen mind - other than deduce where all the cat food is located.

Amber-Mae, tell your Mommy good luck with the singing competition!!! I think the best email for the pee-mail would be parlancedog@yahoo.com.au

I hope she will include you pee-mail so I can send a card to you also - if I can figure out how to send internet cards!

Curator, there are some great puzzles for cats. My local shop has imported some - I'm jealous that the cats get toys imported across the world and dogs don't. But I do realise it's because the cat toys are so much lighter and don't cost a fortune to bring in by air.

Sparky, Happy and Noah, I'm sure you'd have wagging tails too if you were searching for a few of your favorite things - as in The sound of Music, of course.

Hey there! I got word this morning that Clean Run is offering free shipping between now and 9:00 AM EST on December 8th. USPS Priority International is on the list as well as UPS Ground and USP Priority. Didn't know if the USPS Priority International would get to you, but wanted to give you a heads up!

Don't forget to go through my website, 'cause we donate 10% to rescues and shelters :)

Let me know what you find out, K?

Gotta go watch the vids now :)

Johann, thanks for that. I got an email today about it and I'm going to ask them. But I have a sinking feeling they won't want to post heavy toys free to the opposite side of the planet.
I didn't exactly order through your site last time but I told them in my email that I got there through you, so I hope you still get the donation for the shelters.
Wit a minute... I'm going to come over to your site right now and see if I can find some not-too-heavy things to order. That might work...
