Penny's holiday trip

Penny is spending her first ever night away from home and it's strangely quiet here. She's staying with Cindy at Healesville for a few days because I'm off to a hotel that doesn't welcome dogs - weird place, eh?

Cindy has been our trainer for more than three years, at the K9 Kompany that unfortunately closed down this year. But it's an ill wind that blows no good, as the saying goes - though we lost the chance to train with Cindy (film work, agility, pre-flyball skills, tricks, obedience), at least there's the plus that she's started up her own pet services company.

Talk about separation anxiety! Me, I mean, not Penny. We've just received a text message that she's settled down well and the accompanying photo showed her wrestling with one of her doggy friends. (She knows and likes Cindy's dogs.) She's been for a long walk, and has even had a swim.

It's great to know she's settled in enough that she's not looking for me. (But I'm missing her!)

Teal'c mom:
I know exactly how you feel! Not that Teal'c ever looks for me when I drop him off for a good play... Nevertheless I keep calling "the dog-lady" as we call her, just to make sure he is really fine :)
So I hope the 2 of you have a great holiday even if you are not together.

Teal'c: Enjoy your stay there and the non-stop entertainment!!!! Slobbers T.

I think I understand how Penny's feeling. Sure, we all love change and exciting new things, but it's our mothers we cherish. Don't worry, she'll definitely be fine, but be prepared for tons of kisses when you get back. As for your anxiety, just reach out and touch the first fur ball you encounter. You'll be surprised.

Teal'c, from the photos that we received when we picked Penny up, it does seem to have been non-stop entertainment!

Maggie an Mitch, we were were given lots of photos of her, and I noticed her tail was high, a sign that she was relaxed and happy. However, she hasn't stirred from her mat since she came home - sound asleep!

Twinkietinydog, Penny has been all around our house and garden checking out the place, then she settled down on her mat and went off to sleep, so although I'm certain she had a great time, I think she has only truly relaxed now that she knows we did come back for her.

It makes me realise what a great responsibility we take on when we choose a dog, bring her home and make her trust and love us.
