Penny still remembers some moves for dancing

I've spent ages roaming around the internet looking for some music for a routine for Honey's dancing competition, but nothing so far has inspired me.

However, I thought I'd see if Penny was still keen to go in the competition. Yep, by the look of her wagging tail, she still thinks dancing is fun. She even remembers some of the moves, which is pretty good considering we've been out of action for nearly a year.

I found an old walking stick in the umbrella stand in the hallway, so maybe that will be part of our routine.

I thought I'd post a clip of our preparation to encourage others to enter. I figure if they see me bumbling around the kitchen they'll know it's a competition for all levels!

Loved that! Penny does remember her moves...

I have a cane...can't wait to try and teach Teddy!

We in America have been up since 4:30 AM watching the Royal Wedding...probably won't be leaning a dance routine today!

Oh I LOVED IT!!!!!

I think you're too hard on yourself! What bumbling are you talking about?? I love how you were so up and happy voice and excited with her and how you laughed and sounded like you're really enjoying yourself! So often, people are SO uptight and so worried about how they look and whether they're doing everything perfectly - and that's totally missing the point! It is so much nicer to watch a team that's happy & relaxed and not afraid to show some emotion & enthusiasm - who really sound like they're having FUN - rather than one which is 'slick & perfect' but all rigid and serious and too self-conscious. Seriously, I've watched lots of dances and the ones the crowds love are always the ones like yours!

ps. Oh - I forgot to ask - I wanted to do a little compilation of all the teams and their preparations so far for one of our upcoming DWTDS episodes...would you mind if I included a bit from your video? I think just hearing you would encourage people! :-)

Hsin-Yi, you are welcome to include Penny and me in your compilation about the preparations for the Big Competition. It will encourage others to see that it’s all about fun, not skill, lol.

I am SO glad you had the idea for this competition. It gives a place for us non-serious dancers to challenge ourselves in a non-threatening way.

Tina and Teddy, I hope you enjoyed the wedding. I'm surprised to say that I didn't see even one moment of it! I must be the only person in Australia, if not the western world!

Get that cane out and start making up a routine!

Maggie and Mitch and Amber-Mae, at our house it's all about fun (and gobbling treats) rather than skill!

That was a really fun video! Especially with your accent, very charming and happy!
Your pups name caught my eye....my late red golden was Penny. I dont know if I could have taught her to do that, but it looks fun trying. Good Luck!

Sorry - me again - just another question (which I'm almost embarrassed to ask) - but what kind of dog is Penny? Is she a Tibetan Spaniel? It's just that I realised I've given the dog breed for all the other contestants (eg. "Barbie the Greyhound") but I always end up just writing "Penny" coz I'm not sure!!

Thanks,
Hsin-Yi

Hsin-Yi, Penny was said to be a maltese X shih tzu. She obviously isn't! I think she looks a bit like a lhasa apso. She supposedly had a poodle grandparent.

So, I usually call her 'mixed breed'!

Penny's Mumma, I'm so sorry to hear you lost your lovely girl. I hope seeing other dogs having fun is some consolation. We intend to have fun in this competition, because I think dogs come into our lives to teach us to live in the moment.
