lost dog visits and Penny has fun

Each time we've found a stray dog and brought it home, Penny has been unfriendly. However, today I brought home a lovely little fellow who was wandering along a busy street and, surprisingly, Penny was overjoyed to have him here.

I'm wondering whether she behaved well because I had taken the visitor through the house and put him in a crate in the bedroom, closing the door and locking Penny into the other end of the house - I was late for an important appointment and didn't have time to take him to his owners. By the time I got home two hours later Penny was desperate to meet him.

They went for a stroll around the backyard before I took him home. Well, he strolled. Penny flew around him in circles, begging him to play. (He didn't.)

Yes, they were all out in the street waiting when my car pulled up. It was a good moment.

It was a huge hassle picking him up and being late for something important, but it went through my mind, "What if this was Penny? What would I wish a passer-by to do?" Sure puts it into perspective.

Sure glad you took him home and got him reunited with his owner. Penny sure was very friendly with him, wasn't she?

What a bummer that he didn't want to play with you, Penny! Maybe he'll come back for a visit!

Love ya lots,

Happy, Penny thought he was the best thing since sliced bread!

Maggie and Mitch, I reckon he would have settled right in here and Penny would have eventually persuaded him to play. But he had his own family to go to. Sigh... he sure was cute.

If I ever lose (I hope that I will never) my dogs, I hope that will come across
some person like you Parlance.

Slavenka, we dog owners have to stick together, don't we? I'm like you - I hope if Penny ever gets lost, someone will take pity on her.

Wow! Penny really really REALLY likes him! Maybe it's because he;s a male. Maybe?

Amber-Mae, maybe it was also because this is one of the few males who hasn't been interested in Penny - maybe she thought he was playing hard-to-get. I think he was too busy checking out our place, and also he was a bit nervous.

Thata was a cute video. He was just walking along minding his own business penny was so excited, so cute.

I looked up those toys you are getting for penny and really like them. i hope you both enjoy the Tornado when your friend gets it there! I think I'll get one for the boys (Rusty and Riley.) Thanks for sharing about them!

I hated to read that about your Lort Smith animal shelter. It sounds like a blessing to the community and animals. I hope something can be agreed upon. Please keep us informed.

Sharon, the best one of the toys would be the Tornado, I think, depending on how much your boys like puzzles. You might need to learn it in stages, but it has everything the other ones have and more.

I'll hope to be posting some good news about the shelter. I wrote to all the councillors and two of them said they didn't even know about what the animal management officers were doing. So maybe it will be settled fairly.

So cute! Really glad you saved the little one, how scary. Mum has picked up many a dog in our neighborhood or on the way doing errands. So far everyone's home has been found :)
