Penny had a bath immediately after we arrived home from Darebin Parklands this evening, because she had jumped into the creek. The creek looked and smelled awful!
Only yesterday I'd been delighted to see it was crystal clear and inviting. But today...
We walked downstream to see whether the water would be clearer after rushing over the series of rapids that have been designed into this section of the creek.
But the water quality was terrible all the way along.

Penny!
Oh dear, what happened to your creek? It might be mud, because in the summer we were camping by a creek very similar, and one day someone was upstream covered in clay (don't ask why, we don't know either) and washed off in the creek... And the clay literally filled the whole creek for about 4 hours, it looked JUST like these pictures here.
I hope your creek gets back to normal soon!
Sparky
Hi Penny! Oooh - we bet you smelt absolutely wonderful. Humans eh - humph! Sometimes they interfere and we really don't know why - we'd have loved to have joined you in that creak, it looks really inviting to us! Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.
Sparky, you might be right. There is clay soil around here. I hope it is just clay. We'll have to see what it looks like tonight. It's been raining on and off all day. Hooray for rain! I hope it's going into our catchment areas.
JD and Max, she jumped in again today! So I guess she wins the day. She doesn't smell bad, though, so maybe Sparky is right that it was only clay. It didn't smell so weird today, but we thought there was still a slight smell.
Yikes, can imagine how smelly it is. From the sound of it, Penny must be enjoying it though :-)
Have a great weekend!
Happy, it wasn't an absolutely awful smell, but a strange one, so I decided to wash her so as to take no chances on an infection.
